My Malassadas (Portuguese Donuts)
2 1/2 lb flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons lemon extract
2 cups milk
oil to fry
To make yeast you need:
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons yeast
1 /2 cup warm water
First, make the yeast and set aside.
Second, place the milk and butter in a pan until the butter melts.
In a large bowl, put the eggs, salt, lemon extract and sugar. Beat with an electric
mixer for 2 minutes. Then, add the milk/butter and mix for half a minute.
Add the yeast.
Add the flour mix with your hand and knead.
Cover for 20 minutes.
fold the dough over again,until double in size.
In a deep fryer, heat the oil take some pieces of the dough stretch it and put into the oil.
Fry until golden brown.
Dust with sugar..
